Postpartum Belly Message & Belly Binding Ritual
The tradition of postpartum belly binding or wrapping can be found in several different cultures.
It is believed that it helps close up the stretched rectus abdominis as well as support muscles,
and helps organs return to position.
I'm trained in both Chinese and Indonesian Jamu belly binding rituals, and would be able to provide you with postpartum abdominal care according to the traditions.
Each session includes the following parts and a complimentary cotton wrap.
Abdominal Massage
A gentle massage on the abdominal area helps soothe the muscles and warm the recovering womb. It also helps relieve gas and constipation. The natural aromatic massage oil helps bring calmness and relaxation into the postpartum receovery time.
Belly Mask
A belly mask helps hydrate the skin around the abdominal area as well as lighten the stretch marks.
Belly Wrapping / Binding
I'm trained with two binding methods, Chinese and Jamu in the Indonesian traditions.
It is recommended to wait at least 7-10 days after a natural birth to start binding your belly. For a Cesarean birth, it is recommended to wait until the wound is completely healed.
If you'd like, a birth and postpartum story telling can also be included during the session.
